We experienced exceptional attention to detail with this service. They identified issues that were not immediately obvious, including attempts by the vendor to conceal defects. The level of detail and recommendations provided helped us make the informed decision not to purchase the property. All in all, the service was exceptional and worth every penny, enabling us to make a sound decision not to proceed with the property purchase.

We have used Heritage House Surveys for a pre-purchase survey of a Victorian Property and we are very pleased with the result. The report is really thorough and full of great information and we were able to follow up any further questions directly with the surveyor. It gave us the confidence we needed to put in an offer and even the real estate agent was impressed with the level of expertise displayed.

After the bank telling me to use a member of the Property care association (PCA) and being ripped off by them trying to sell me damp proofing products with no evidence of where the damp was coming from and telling me I would have to spend £72k on there work that was not guaranteed to last, with also being not suitable for an old built house. We then found heritage house. After talking to them over the phone and they reviewed the report from the PCA member they gave me guidance on how to proceed with the bank, good advice on what to do with the property to then go and book in damp survey with them.It is costly but the report is well written and covers everything you need to know about your property with also how you deal with the damp problems and causes unlike the report from the PCA member. The mortgage company has read and approved the survey meaning we are able to proceed with purchasing the property.Only thing I can criticise with heritage house is that they are hard to get hold of on the phone and take time to get back to you by email. But found emailing was best to get hold of them. I understand that they are busy after receiving a detailed report that takes a lot of time to write up and other people wanting to use them. From the whole experience don’t use what the bank recommends you to use (PCA Members that use a damp tester that you stick in your logs for fire) give heritage house a call and speak to your bank to get the right survey done on your property. They have saved me £10,000’s !!Thank you !!

2nd survey with heritage house over the years. Timber and damp survey 7-8 years ago which suggested numerous simple solutions and prevented a damp proof course which the previous surveyors had been pushing. Most recent timber frame and barn survey very helpful identified issues and solutions while providing reassurance ahead of purchase on semi derelict unlisted 1600s cottage. Prompt responses from admin team and generally very helpful.

The service I’ve had from Heritage Survey has been outstanding. Nick Leach in particular has gone above and beyond what I expected, he’s been fantastic throughout. I’ve now used him for two surveys, due to his astuteness on the first he saved me from purchasing a nightmare property which appeared nice on the surface. Nick explained in passionate detail about how a period property should be maintained, the correct materials and practises, and possible problem areas to be aware of, even using examples of properties along the same street. He was more than happy to spend time explaining everything, no question was too daft, I felt I left with a complete understanding of the property. Heritage Survey are a bit more expensive than the competition, but you pay for their specialist knowledge regarding period properties. I would undoubtedly recommend Nick and Heritage Survey to anyone purchasing a period property.

Pete has provided invaluable advice and thought process guidance in the past and so this year, before proceeding to exchange on an Edwardian London terrace house, I knew where to go for a conservation survey. As in the past, the survey was both genuinely knowledgeable on what could be done to help the house function as a comfortable space with dry brick walls and good ventilation ..... but also sensible and proportionate to the scale and circumstances. Although at this stage I know some of what to look out for in unwisely maintained older properties, the survey uncovered important (but solveable) issues that I had missed in my viewings and paid for itself many times over in giving me that knowledge. Thanks again Pete and team!

Excellent service received.Booking a damp survey was straightforward, with good timing availability. The survey was undertaken thoroughly, with every aspect during the process discussed and explained in depth. The report was produced within published timeframes and the recommendations reflected our discussions on the day.It is reassuring to deal with older building experts who are not fazed by issues unearthed and who are able to suggest workable solutions. We have no hesitation in recommending Heritage House Surveys for others requiring expert assessment of, in our instance, London Victorian terraced housing stock.Thank you to the whole team
